About Marble & Moss
Every image you see on this site has a story before it reaches you. We are often asked how we find the spaces we feature. The answer is both simple and deeply intentional.
The search
Our team spends countless hours exploring the quieter corners of the design world. We do not rely on algorithms to tell us what is popular. Instead, we dig — through portfolios of small architecture studios, through photographs of homes that never made it to a magazine cover, through the work of stylists who work with what already exists rather than what is new.
We look for spaces that feel honest. A crooked beam. A worn stone step. A room where the light falls unevenly. These imperfections are not flaws to us — they are the very thing that makes a space breathe.
The selection
Not every beautiful room makes it onto Marble & Moss. We have a simple test: would we want to linger in this space ourselves? If the answer is yes — if we can imagine sitting in that chair, reading by that window, pouring tea on that counter — then the image moves forward. If a room feels staged, cold, or designed purely for the camera, we pass.
We also ask: does this image offer something different from the last one we shared? We are not interested in repetition. We want each pin, each article, each gallery to feel like a new discovery.
The composition
Once selected, images are gently edited to ensure their quality matches the vision of the original creator. We do not alter the substance of a room — we simply make sure the light reads true and the textures feel as rich on screen as they would in person.
We then group images into visual stories. A single article might bring together a coastal living room from Portugal, a kitchen from a farmhouse in New England, and a bedroom from a Parisian attic. What connects them is not geography or style — it is an atmosphere. A mood. A feeling of quiet elegance that transcends location.
Who we are
Marble & Moss is run by a small editorial team with backgrounds in art direction, photography, and publishing. We choose to remain behind the scenes. You will not find our names or faces here — not because we have anything to hide, but because we believe the work should take centre stage, not the people who compiled it.
Why we do this
We believe that inspiration should be accessible. You should not need a degree in design or a six-figure budget to create a home that feels beautiful. Our role is simply to gather what moves us and place it in front of you. What you do with it — whether you save it, share it, or use it to reimagine your own space — is entirely yours.
Enjoy the exploration.
